Stainless Damascene powder steel is a modern material providing combined benefits of two different stainless steel qualities. Without mixing them together, the components are added as powder in layers into the pressure chamber. Then high-pressure hot pressing, just below the melting temperature, is applied to form billets. This procedure results in steel with extremely small and evenly-distributed carbides. The patterning techniques involve ancient damascening methods such as forging, coining, twisting and cutting.
